Native Player improvements

Over time, we integrated with further libraries and SDKs and added support for Blackmagic BRAW, HEIF stills, Adobe DNG, ARRI stills and ARRIRAW MXF, Canon RAW, ProRes RAW (macOS only), regular ProRes, and Avid DNxHR. The only major professional camera support we don’t natively support is Sony RAW and Sony X-OCN because use of their SDKs involves a significant licensing cost.

In CatDV 13 we made the NativeHelper itself 64-bit. Another architectural change was required when Apple introduced their Apple Silicon chips. We made changes so that we can compile either an Intel x86_64 version or an Apple Silicon arm64 version.

Currently though, we ship the Intel version although we made the external FFmpeg binaries universal, in readiness for the transition to Apple Silicon.
