Limitations when using CatDV Clients inside Virtual Machines
CatDV Clients
CatDV 11 and Previous version Clients all use hardware acceleration through the computer’s Graphics card to play back video. OSX virtualisation software (VMware, Virtual Box etc) do not provide Graphics Hardware Virtualisation support under Mac OSX. This means that it is not possible to play back video within CatDV running on a virtual Machine where the virtual OS is OSX or the Host OS is OSX.
Our advice is not to run CatDV clients in virtual environments if video playback is a requirement although file manipulation, metadata editing and creation etc are all unaffected and these tasks are possible on virtual machines.
